EcoMobility World Festival 2013


 

From 01 – 30 September, in association with Suwon City and UN-Habitat, ICLEI will present the four-week long EcoMobility World Festival 2013

 

The residents of a neighborhood in Suwon, South Korea will temporarily adopt an ecomobile lifestyle for one month to demonstrate how EcoMobility provides innovative environmentally friendly transport options – including and combining walking, cycling, wheeling, and passenging – within a city to all citizens irrespective of age, gender or physical capability. 

The Festival will serve as a global showcase of future mobility for NGOs, cyclists and pedestrian associations, businesses, educational institutions and governments in Korea and all over the world as well as a cultural and educational event for local citizens. 

The EcoMobility 2013 Suwon Congress will take place at the Festival from 01 – 04 September.

Designing Cities for Health and Happiness


As a non-profit organization based in Ontario, 8-80 Cities aims to contribute to the discussion of creating vibrant cities and healthy communities by inviting world leaders to share their expertise. In the past, we have hosted renowned change makers, such as NYC’s Commissioner of Transportation Janette Sadik-Khan and Melbourne’s Chief Planner Rob Adams. This time we have invited Helle Soholt, who partnered with Jan Gehl 11 years ago creating the prominent Danish firm Gehl Architects.

Helle will share her insights from projects in cities such as Copenhagen, Melbourne and New York, and furthermore, apply this knowledge into creating cities for people .
